Safety Tips

Phoenix Services Protection Agency Inc.

First some facts of life:

Security Guard is in the top five most dangerous jobs in America, with more guards killed each year than Police Officers. Most guards are dedicated people who will do all they can in any given situation. For this we get harassed, cursed at, threatened, and even attacked! On Friday Dec. 15 Lt. Vinny was dispatched to the scene of two men working under the dash of a van at 8:30 PM- in the dark. The two men accosted Lt. Vinny, threatening to kill him and getting in his face poking him. The resident who called came down and identified the two men as owners of the van. He did not recognize his neighbors in the dark. Was Lt. Vinny not supposed to go to the scene of two men working like they were trying to steal a car in the dark? Was this right?

What We Do

When people get home late at night they can call to have a security officer escort them home. During a medical emergency a security officer can get an ambulance to the scene quickly. The security patrol is here to see that residents can go to the bank and the supermarket in safety. We have stopped robberies and found lost children. We have pulled people from overturned cars, chased loiterers, stopped car thefts, and had vandals arrested. Click on the picture at right to visit the Phoenix Services Protection Agency web site.

Ira Rothstein

ira.jpg (16925 bytes)Ira was an integral part of NCP for 15 years and had given a great deal of his time and effort to the community. He fully supported the security patrol and was dedicated to the safety of our residents. His contribution to our neighborhood will be greatly missed.

Herb Rooney

Herb was a fixture of the patrol who worked the worst shifts. Her-1.jpg (149839 bytes) worked overnights and double shifts; work 16 hours, go home and try to get some sleep, then back in for another 16 hours. His dedication was acknowledged by the older residents, who would ask to have Herb escort them when they got home late at night. To his brother and sister guards he was Mr. Rooney and his wit, wisdom and humor can never be replaced.

Sgt. Kay

K smile small.JPG (7904 bytes) Sgt. Kay Aurelis was a very reliable and dedicated overnight supervisor for many years. We were all devastated to hear she had died in a tragic accident soon after she stopped working here. She made a name for herself with the security patrol, handling several serious car theft situations with a determination you might not expect from such a beautiful young woman.
